Braintree take the TFC U16 Cup after a 4–4 final

Two group-stage comeback wins, a 13–2 semi-final and a deciding tie-break make Braintree’s Repton weekend the lead youth story.

TFC U16 Cup: a title decided after 4–4

The TFC U16 Cup at Repton School, Derbyshire, ended with Braintree Futsal Club U16 taking the title after a 4–4 Grand Final against Futsal 360 Bristol U16 on Sunday 25 October. Braintree are the recorded tie-break winners; Bristol finish runners-up. It was a much closer second meeting after Braintree had won the sides’ group game 5–1 the previous afternoon.

Braintree’s route included two verified comeback wins on Saturday. They recovered from 0–2 down against City of Peterborough Futsal Centre U16 to win 7–6, then came from 0–1 down against Bristol to win 5–1. An 8–1 victory over West Yorkshire Futsal Club U16 completed their three-win group record and nine-point finish. Sunday brought a 13–2 semi-final win against West Yorkshire before the drawn final and decisive tie-break.

Bristol’s path deserves its own space. They beat Peterborough 3–1 in the group, lost 5–6 to West Yorkshire and 1–5 to Braintree, then beat Peterborough again, 3–2, in the semi-final to reach the title match. West Yorkshire’s group win over Bristol was itself a verified comeback, from 4–5 down to a 6–5 victory.

Peterborough took third place with a 9–6 win over West Yorkshire, recovering from 0–2 down. They had also come from 2–3 behind to beat the same opponents 7–4 in the group. Across ten completed matches, the tournament’s recorded goal sequences, group table and knockout bracket provide a fuller story than the final score alone. The title belongs to Braintree, with the final match score retained as 4–4.

Newcastle’s Friday margins

The Newcastle youth programme also supplied close results on 23 October. WIDEOPEN Rockets U11 beat Benfield Ballerz 5–4 in U11/U12, Walker Central Whites beat Montagu Whites 6–5 in U12/U13 Division 1, and Brandon Community FC U14s beat Le Bris Knees 4–3 in the U13/U14 Friday League. In U9/U10, NEW FORDLEY MADRID U10 and South Shields Futsal shared a 6–6 draw. Those games give the week breadth alongside the cup final, with the combined age bands kept as published.

RESULTS BEHIND THIS STORY

This England issue covers verified published results for 19–25 October, including all ten completed TFC U16 Cup matches recorded on FutsalIndex and the source-checked FA, NFL and Newcastle programme. Tournament tie-break winners are separate from drawn match scores. Comeback descriptions use complete goal sequences that reconcile to the final score. Bristol’s current public outcome totals reconciled with no new numeric scores; scoreless walkovers remain held. Some other saved sources were inaccessible or lacked dated, resolved final scores. Girls coverage includes recorded female squads in broader youth divisions. Coverage remains partial.
