YOUTH BOYS / THE WEEK IN FUTSAL

Comets score 23; Panthers and Hawks win closer contests.

From combined U9/U10 games to U14/U15, the Newcastle winter leagues give youth teams a full edition of their own.

U9/U10: room for more than the biggest score

Wideopen Comets U9 beat Killingworth Reds U9 23–6 in Newcastle’s combined Winter U9/U10 competition. The age labels matter here: the league groups two ages together, while both teams in this particular fixture are listed as U9 squads.

Cramlington United Panthers won 6–4 against North Shields U10 Yellows in the same competition. Jarrow Vipers U9 beat Newcastle East End PSG U9s 14–5; WBFC Warriors U10 defeated Stan Lorenzo Valiants U10 12–4. South Shields Futsal also won 12–2 against Willington QS Tiempo. There is more to this age band than a single headline team.

Across the middle age groups

Washington Navy U10 beat Killingworth Yellows 13–4 in the combined U10/U11 league. Newcastle East End U10 won 8–5 against Los Pirañas U10, and Stan Lorenzo Silvers defeated La Masia U11 8–2.

In the U11/U12 competition, Benfield Ballerz beat Stan Lorenzo Sambas 5–1 and Wideopen Galacticos won 9–2 against Blyth Spartans Juniors. The U12/U13 leagues supplied closer margins too: Whitley Bay SC U12 Yellows beat Stan Lorenzo Originali U11 4–3 in Division 2, while Wallsend Yellows U11 defeated Cramlington Town Juniors Whites 6–4.

Older groups, and a broader division

Heaton Hawks U13 edged Brandon Community U14s 4–3 in the U13/U14 Friday league. WBSC U14 Ajax beat Caer Urfa 6–1 in the same competition. In U14/U15, Tynedale Futsal Whites won 9–2 against WBSC Yellows and Foundation OL Reds beat Jogo Bonito Bora 12–6.

The eighteen recorded youth results all come from Newcastle’s winter competitions this week. One boys’ division fixture includes Newcastle City Girls, who lost 3–6 to U13 Futsal Emeralds; that game is also covered in the girls’ edition. Combined league age bands describe the competition, not a claim that every participant belongs to its oldest age group.
